(WTVY) - A group of volunteers in Geneva County spends their own time and money building wheelchair ramps and repairing porches, steps, and handrails for residents with physical limitations, providing the work free of charge. Ronnie Baine and other members of the Men on Missions ministry have built between 45 and 50 accessibility ramps and done related repairs for people in Geneva, Holmes, Houston, and Covington counties. "It's just been a blessing," Baine said. "It's the stories about the people that you've helped. It's not about me and the guys'Men on Missions, that's what we call ourselves'it's not about us. It's about serving people, and that's what we enjoy doing." Baine began the work after a community member suffered an accident, and he was asked to help. The donation-filled red kettles touch 15 million people in the country, according to Corps Officer Major Linda Payton. Marc Cronin, with Wiregrass 2-1-1, and his family have been a part of that statistic. This year, Cronin made the first contribution of the season.
